Clemson University’s new lift station and sewer force main are finished and ready to be put into operation as part of the Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure –West Campus project. As the title of this post indicates, one of the many challenges presented in the design and construction of this project was the 700 foot long, 10-inch steel encasement housing the 4-inch ductile iron force main hanging from the side of the SC Hwy 93 Bridge. The bridge attachment, which spans across the Seneca River portion of Lake Hartwell, required significant environmental consideration and, in total, weighs over 42,000 pounds! Special thanks to Harper Corporation, who performed all of the construction, for their hard work. We look forward to the completion of this project and the future phases that include extending gravity sewer service to the West Campus portion of Clemson University in Oconee County (Ravenel Area, formerly Y-Beach).
